Week of 1/29-2/2
Reading: Guided reading rotations; students read and discuss chapter books in small groups. We will begin focusing on setting and events using our New York Ready books.
Writing: Time Capsule writing piece; final copies
Grammar: Past, Present, and Future tenses
Vocabulary: Unit 6; introduce words on Monday; quiz on Friday. *Students will have an opportunity during Guided Reading to complete some assignments that are normally homework.
We are wrapping up our division unit this week. I will continue to work with small groups to ensure understanding of the steps of long division. We will review for several days, and our test will be on Friday.
Students will be presenting posters this week, and we will be completing several different reviews as this was such a long chapter.
Week 9 continued; The Dutch Settle New Netherland.
We will begin Chapter 8 in our textbooks which discusses Moses and his covenant with God. We will also discuss the importance of the Ten Commandments. We will study each commandment in detail over the next several months. We are also planning mass for Thursday.
This is Catholic Schools Week – each day has a theme:
Monday: Sneaker day – wear sneakers with your uniform. (30 minutes of IXL is due today)
Tuesday: Sports day – wear your favorite jersey with jeans
Wednesday: Hawaiian day – wear a Hawaiian shirt with your uniform
Thursday: Dress your Best – Mass at 8am, Spelling Bee at 1:15. Come support our contestants Acacia Gardner and Josiah Taylor!
Friday: School spirit day – wear yellow and green with jeans. (Math and vocabulary tests today)
